I can't believe this about dogs

My 6 month old Australian Shepherd mix was terrible on a leash. When she wasn't pulling to get everything, she would jump on the leash, play tug-of-war with him, growl, and bit him. I bought the best tension free harness hoping that the front hook would draw her attention to me instead of tightening her, but that didn't happen. After watching a few episodes of Cesar 911, I realized that her leash behavior was caused by anxiety because she wasn't told how to calm down. I decided to try Cesar's leash because every time he put the dog on the leash he calmed down and I was dying to try something. I also decided that I needed to practice being calm and assertive. The first time I put a leash on her I couldn't believe it, she didn't immediately grab the leash and start pulling on it. As we left she stayed by my side and I didn't correct her. I really couldn't believe it. (And no, I'm not being compensated for saying this! I'm just a little girl from Wisconsin with a mixed breed puppy.) I finally feel like I can walk my puppy without worrying that he's getting out of control. . It's important to place the leash high on her neck, behind her ears, and it's also important to correct for forward/upward movement, not backward (which is counterintuitive when I'm trying to get her to walk backward) - ie the correct line technique. I realize that my emotional state also has a big impact on their behavior. If I'm at all tense or thinking about how she might be acting or worried about her position around me or the dog she's seeing, she senses it and starts walking forward and I have to stop myself adjust and wait. to recalibrate her and when we start again she is next to me again. This leash (and Cesar's methods) changed my relationship with my pup.
