This is an environmentally friendly degreaser that is ideal for bikes with regularly serviced transmissions. For certain chains it is best used with a chain cleaner such as Park Tool CM 5.2 or Finish Line Pro Chain Cleaner. I see some disappointed people comparing this to Windex or Dawn dishwashing detergents. Well, it's a biodegradable, non-toxic, non-flammable product that doesn't have the acetone activity of the dangerous, eye-irritating, difficult-to-breath solvent-based degreasers you might expect. It's a degreaser that doesn't spray or dry and isn't likely to work on stuck grease, dried dirt, or old grease commonly found on bikes in poor condition. When used as directed, this is an excellent eco-friendly degreaser and is best suited for daily bike drivetrain maintenance. I've used it on our mountain bikes to degrease chains, derailleurs and sprockets and got the job done every time.
