Review on Sony Wireless Headphones WH-CH510: Wireless Bluetooth On-Ear Headset With Mic For Phone-Call by Tony Wylie

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great Sony sound but at a price

If you are reading this review you really want to know "should I buy these?" The answer is like. ? May be.? Maybe.? with some BASIC restrictions. If you're familiar with Sony headphones, you already know that the unboxing process is nondescript at best, so I'll just give you 30 seconds. Opening the box gives you the earbuds, charging cable and instructions, that's all. But as I said, if you don't spend $200-350. You don't get a case or even a bag for that matter. It's just the Sony way. As for the build quality, well, mmmm... Okay, there's a lot of plastic here and it's not high quality. Let's just say it's 95% plastic. You know plastic that looks like something will break if you squeeze it a little bit? Yes, that's how they feel. And when I say they're 95% plastic, I mean the headband isn't even padded, which makes them incredibly uncomfortable, especially if you're bald like me. Even for a short time, these things just start hurting at the top of your head. Also, because of the cheap plastic, they give very little (you definitely don't want to try to stretch them if you don't like clicking sounds). The only non-plastic part in them are the ear pads (if you can call them that). Now I know they are in-ear headphones, but they are so small that they feel like on-ears for small children, said even my 8-year-old who wears a pair of Sony wired headphones in everyday used to school he felt cramped and small on him. I'm not sure what material they used for the ear pads, but someone really needs to make headphones out of this material. These things heat up FAST even with the fan on, I was only able to wear them for very short periods of time. For something that gets this hot, they're also incredibly thin. It's also not noise-cancelling, except for the passive noise-cancellation you get from the vises on your head. Now I see that confused look on your face because you probably remember earlier when I said you can even buy them with all these questions why should I say it right? Because again, in the spirit of Sony, these things sound fantastic. Even straight out of the box with no burning, they sound GREAT. The mids and highs are very present, and there's a surprising amount of punch at the bottom end. You also get 35 hours of playback. NOTE: There's a bit of confusion because the spec sheet on the description page says they DO NOT have fast charging, but I can confirm from the packaging and actual usage that they offer USB-C fast charging (yes, no padding, but USB-C, find out). They also have NFC and the mics aren't that bad when making calls (but seriously, how many people use headphones to make calls anyway). They support the voice assistant blah...blah...blah...but that doesn't matter because I honestly can't imagine you wearing them for that long. When I asked my kid who wants something new if he wanted it he said no thanks and that pretty much told me everything I needed to know. But I guess if you have a lot of frizzy hair, don't mind a vise on your head, you're overly cautious (think plastic molded Tiffany crystal) and need to have a pair of branded headphones, then yes they will work . BUT, if it were my money (and for the same money or even less), there are significantly better deals out there from Cowin, TaoTronics, Bluedio, and others. Heck, you can even find a Sony XB700 for around the same price. But yes, I still have to admit that it sounds great. I usually post my subscription reviews here, but this time I'll put it differently instead of saying "I recommend". money for it? NoEmoji Rating: 😞Thank you for taking the time to read this review. I really hope it helped you. For your health!
