My cat is a big guy, a devoted and enthusiastic user of his scratching post. Thank God. He had the last one for about a year and made about a 4 inch strip at the corners of the tree. And a good, tall scratching post is not cheap! some smell. It was pretty overwhelming. I was so disgusted that I just threw the opened bag on the countertop. Two days later I decided I had to find a use for it or throw it away. However, I was amazed to find that the bad smell was gone! Okay, not really, but it's only been two days and it took a lot of effort to find him. I don't know what caused the smell in the first place - It doesn't look like a bag - but I'm very glad it dissipated. Now it only smells like sisal! So when I find out who "borrowed" my glue gun and I get it back, my cat tries to fix her scratching post. I think we'll both be very happy and I've saved a lot of money.
