This balaclava is easy to slip on and will keep our son's head nice and nice during the bitterly cold Colorado winter. He doesn't like it when it covers his mouth or nose, but that's not the balaclava's fault, and the lower section gathers easily and completely covers the neck. At 19 months he's just about snuggly enough and I think he's got room for next winter (he has a head circumference of 50 percent so that's a pretty average head size for his age). The inside is not fleece but a very soft material which I think is comfortable for him; It's thick enough to be warm but not so thick that it can overheat and also fits nicely under the hood of his coat.
