CPU: i7-9750HGPU: RTX 206016GB RAM 512GB SSD This is a good gaming laptop in my experience, but there are some minor things that bother me that I would like to have others to consider as I have not found any similar complaints while researching this laptop. My cons: Coil whine - definitely noticeable and can be annoying if you're sensitive to noise. Fan Noise - Like almost all gaming laptops, it gets loud. It's inevitable, but I've seen/heard worse. Screen. The biggest thing for me is the terrible backlight. I think this is fairly common on a laptop, but just as annoying. Adaptation is another bad sign. An upside down motherboard is a hassle to upgrade. Added an additional NVME and it took longer than it should. If you're thinking of upgrading this anytime in the future, look for a better laptop. BIOS. Selling laptops with such a pathetic BIOS should be a crime. There are hardly any setting options for the CPU, GPU, fan or memory. All this should happen on Windows 10 with crappy Acer software. Why can't I set undervolting in the BIOS? OS Compatibility - I boot all my systems with Windows 10 and some Linux distros (hence the optional nvme) and this laptop barely got going. It took forever for Pop!_OS to install correctly due to the horrible BIOS and some weird default configurations. If you're getting this configuration for RTX, don't. RTX is useless on this base model 2060 and you'll get better performance from a 1660 Ti or 1070. Color scheme. The bright blue color scheme of the laptops is frankly gross. Luckily, they have an RGB keyboard that you can use to disguise the ugly WASD and arrow keys. BLOAT - The default Windows 10 install has more bells and whistles than a deer killed on the road in south Louisiana after 3 weeks in the summer. Just reset everything as soon as it turns on and only install what you need from the driver pages. Pros: The battery is decent for a gaming laptop, a slightly larger 90Wh or 99Wh battery could have been used. Optimus Config: ALWAYS get a laptop with a MUX switch for iGPU and dGPU. This laptop has it, and it significantly reduces input lag. This was the main reason I chose this laptop over the Asus Zephyrus G14. Display: The 144Hz display is great for gaming and the lack of GSync isn't really a problem at high refresh rates. Keyboard: The keyboard is comfortable to type on. Although I lack a dedicated numeric keypad. TL; DR: Good laptop for the price, decent build quality and honest performance. BIOS and other settings are almost non-existent.
