Trust me it's the cartridge. I am running the turntable through a brand new Yamaha AS 701 and Bose 901 along with Mitsubishi DS-50CS speakers. tried the CD player. OMG amazing sound with CD about Yamaha A-S701! I RETURNED it and got a new Yamaha CD player.
