UPDATE AGAIN: The seller has not fulfilled their promise to fix the original defect. UPDATE: I'm updating my rating to 5 stars. the seller was so great. Asked for my review and committed to taking the necessary steps to improve this shelf. As I said below the shelf is really great, there were just a few issues that need to be addressed and once they are fixed everything will be perfect! This shelf is the definition of "you get what you pay for". It is really nice. Robust, easy to mount on the wall as anti-tipper. While anyone buying a shelf for less than $100 should assume it isn't real wood, this finish literally makes it look like someone took a photo of the wood grain and taped it to the sides of the shelf glued. Yes, again, that's what you'd expect unless you're paying a lot for a shelf, so it's not a big deal. The downside to the shelf is that the screws used to assemble the shelf are silvery and huge, sticking out like a sore thumb. While the roll bar was easy to install and seems effective, it's actually annoying. Black with silver screw. I'm not one to bother with such details, but this is a really disappointing choice if the manufacturer. And assembly... I like assembling things - I want my job to be assembling IKEA furniture. The instructions for this shelf were as terrifying as it could get while somehow managing to show you how to assemble this bad boy. Oh and also this is not part of a product review BUT I would like to mention that it was delivered (with a few days delay) and right outside the garage where there is no shed (and we have not one but two covered canopies RIGHT there) and it rained on the box, everything got wet inside and I expected it to be destroyed. Luckily not? The faux wood is coated with a durable something that saved the day. The long story is endless, it serves its purpose, cute from afar but leaves a lot to be desired up close.
