A bit difficult to rate this item. It works great to prevent us from slipping in the shower. Honestly, it's incredibly well made and feels great on your feet (which means it's not rough, it's not smooth enough to be slippery, and it holds your feet well). This mat stays where you put it, the mat is non-slip and non-slip, so you feel safe when you stand on it. And while we don't use it in the bathroom (because we don't take baths), I'm sure it will work just as well in that area. Overall it certainly deserves a 4 star rating but there is a potential downside over others. Now for what I don't like and what I didn't expect. Water flows through and into the sewer, but foam does not. So if you left the rug in the cubicle all the time I have no doubt you would end up with a sticky suds effect on the shower floor which is why people stopped using shower/bath rugs. First. BUT this problem is easily solved by doing what I originally intended to do. When I'm done with my shower, I just pick up the rug and rinse it out. This allows the foam to run down the drain, leaving a "foam-free" mat. Then I just tape the mat to the side of the shower, loosely so it can air dry. Done and problem solved. Next time, just grab the mat and place it on the shower floor, press down on the sides to create the suction you need to keep the mat in place, and shower without slipping. I chose the carpet over the applique because I read a lot of bad reviews about these products. I also had fun with anti slip tape but I read a lot of bad reviews there too. There are holes in this carpet and water runs through it very well. We don't have backup water, so it just matters that the foam doesn't flow through. Not what I expected but it's easy to fix. All in all I would buy it again and recommend it. But only if you're okay with rinsing it out after each use (which is such a small task if you feel confident using the product in the shower/bath without fear of slipping).
