Identical to OEM but be careful when installing

Broken shift lock knobs seem to be very common on newer Honda models. I bought this for our 2017 CRV. It appears to be identical to the original so only time will tell if it will hold up. Although there were no installation instructions, I was able to find many videos online and even a dealer bulletin on installation direct from Honda. WARNING! Many videos show that a simple push-to-click installs the button. DO NOT use this method unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE you have all the parts from the old button. Compare the new with the old to be sure. Often the button breaks, leaving fragments in the shift knob. (I ran into this problem) The grip is easy to remove by removing the U-shaped panel on the back of the derailleur. This will reveal 2 Phillips head screws which once removed will allow the handle to be removed. Be careful not to lose the small bushing attached to the shaft. Check the inside of the handle for broken parts. They tend to stick to the lubricant used on the sliding surfaces. When you're sure all the pieces came out, dab grease on the grooves and corner slot of the new button. Place the spring in the handle onto the cross tab and align it with the similarly shaped tab on the new button. Gently press the button down and move it slightly until the hook on the bottom of the button snaps into place. Make sure the button is fully depressed and released freely. If not, you may need to uninstall it and look for additional snippets. After installing the knob, put the handle back on the shaft and replace a screw. Turn on the ignition (or start the engine) and make sure the switch works properly in all positions, then install the remaining screw and snap the cover open.
