Fits 2017 Honda CR-V Touring

The knob fits my 2017 CR-V Touring. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out how to remove the cover that hides the screws needed to remove the handle. The handle must be removed if dirt remains in the switch. You can carefully remove the plastic cover with a very thin screwdriver (pry up the left and right sides). If the original button broke, this one will most likely do the same. There is a review from Honda - a free replacement, but they said the job could take up to 3 hours. It's…

Doesn't work best in Body & Trim

Read reviews, several others had the same issue as me. The button is not pressed far enough. My 2017 CRV shift knob broke. When I fixed it, he didn't go to the park. It's as if the button only had to go a fraction of an inch further and it wouldn't go in. I reinstalled the broken shift knob (it was so broken it still works but falls out of the shifter) and it shifted back into park. I've been trying for a good 30-45 minutes and couldn't get it to work. I'm not the most skilled person, but I've…

2017/2018 Honda CRV Gear Shift Knob Easy Fix

The shift knob on my daughter's 2017 CRV is broken. There are many videos on YouTube about this problem and the required solution. Shame on Honda. I decided to disassemble the shifter (remove the cover and two screws) and then the "head" of the shifter slips off. I then removed the end piece from the other side (opposite side where you will be putting the shift knob button) and in doing so it was very good to see where the plastic from the old broken shift knob remained. I then removed the…

Trick to set up a crib 2017, read this!

This part works as it should, but there is a trick to installing it, so for people who couldn't install it, this is what you need to do. The first one broke during installation and I had to order a replacement. Don't just stick it in there. Most likely a tiny piece of plastic was broken from the last one. Removing the shift knob is very easy. All you have to do is put the car in low gear, put the parking brake on and turn off the car. Then take a flathead screwdriver, be very careful and pray…

Less expensive repair - replacement parts

The original button knob that came with my 2017 CR-V was replaced by Honda in early 2020 when I took my car in for a scheduled service. The button still worked fine but they told me they would recall it and replace it for free. Honda's replacement grip was flimsy and didn't seem to fit; he felt very free. A few months later it broke off completely. Just after my warranty expired. I still had a lot of old buttons in the shift knob that I couldn't reach, so I had to remove the whole button (I…

Identical to OEM but be careful when installing

Broken shift lock knobs seem to be very common on newer Honda models. I bought this for our 2017 CRV. It appears to be identical to the original so only time will tell if it will hold up. Although there were no installation instructions, I was able to find many videos online and even a dealer bulletin on installation direct from Honda. WARNING! Many videos show that a simple push-to-click installs the button. DO NOT use this method unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE you have all the parts from the…
