This part works as it should, but there is a trick to installing it, so for people who couldn't install it, this is what you need to do. The first one broke during installation and I had to order a replacement. Don't just stick it in there. Most likely a tiny piece of plastic was broken from the last one. Removing the shift knob is very easy. All you have to do is put the car in low gear, put the parking brake on and turn off the car. Then take a flathead screwdriver, be very careful and pray on the back of the shift knob, this will expose the screws to remove the shift knob from its post. Unscrew the shift knob, remove it, put the car back in park. Now this is the important part. Make sure there are no plastic bits in the old shifter, then take a flathead screwdriver and pry out the small white piece that the shift knob sits on and attaches to the shifter. Insert a new button! Now remember we just took off that little white sleeve that goes with the switch! Put this on the shift post before you put on the real part of your shift and then just reattach everything you may need to play around with the knob a bit to get it to slide perfectly but it's a secret you won't get this one need to remove small white install before putting the shifter back in place will solve your problem and it fits the 17 CRV perfectly if you do!
