. The antenna is 3 years old and is holding up great. I had terrible SWR for a long time.

I've had this antenna for 3 years now and it's holding up great. I've had horrible SWR for a long time and somehow always blamed the antenna and at one point I wanted to write a negative review but talk user error! I didn't care since I had a Cobra 19 that I bought for $20 and I thought what happens to the high SWR if I only use it for a few off-road trips a year? Well I burned the first CB a few weeks ago and recently replaced it with a 25LTD Cobra. This time I really took the time to fix the SWR issue and I actually shorted the antenna out with a washer on the antenna mount where it shouldn't be. Report User Bug! After this was fixed I had 2 SWR on channel 19 to start, it took maybe 1-2 minutes max and I have a SWR of 1.4 on channel 19. I did a lot of research to understand the CB settings and antennas . and how they work because i thought i had bad settings as i didn't realize i had shorted out the antenna mount so i was expecting horrible SWR since the antenna is mounted on the winch bumper which is not exactly grounded earth stuff. So I'm very happy that I can get such a great SWR out of the winch bumper. But even if my story here is exaggerated or whatever, I can assure you that the antenna is very solid. This thing went through many branches, hit many low-hanging signs, and hit the concrete beams on the ceiling of parking lots. It also stands outside in the sun, rain, snow in all seasons, and any cracks or breaks are yet to come.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Wait too long
