Standard FireStick

The FireStick antennas are well made and work perfectly. This 4 inch antenna on my Jeep Wrangler JLU is no exception. I used to use every available antenna and got mixed results. I became aware of the FireStick brand through an off-road colleague and have not regretted it. They are durable, reliable and I have experienced the best performance in terms of transmit/receive range with them. Note that I use an SWR meter to tune the antenna for optimal performance, but most FireStick antennas I have

Great when set up correctly

Like all antennas, this antenna requires some fiddling to get the right SWR. After about 30 minutes I found that my SWR was 1.3 on channels 1 and 40 and the needle on channel 19 was barely moving. (I didn't use the extra rubber tip, but I did use a 3" Heavy Duty Firestik stainless steel nib, I recommend.) This is perfection, as virtually all of the 6w power of my Uniden PC76XL tipped and tuned to this very recommended antenna ("Peaked & Tuned" cost me $15 at my local CB shop where they…

Good Quality - Radios

I bought this to replace the crappy glass with the antenna and hooked it up to an antenna mount in the trunk and a cheap Midland 1001Z with a quick connector. As soon as I landed and found the SWR, I set out for a test drive. On the freeway, cruising at freeway speeds, I got very good audio for up to 4.5 miles and reception was excellent. The SWR was easy to adjust on my rig once the ground was hooked up properly (which was the hardest part, my roof rack is isolated from the rest of the car)…

Works GREAT 4ft too tall for a garage

Arrived on time as expected. The product turned out to be well compatible with CB (Uniden PRO510XL) and I had to use it. The instructions for setting up the SWR meter were easy to follow. Didn't have to do much tuning at all, the antenna was pretty well preset, but you still need to get an SWR reading to make sure you're within tolerance so you don't damage the radio. I chose the 4 inch antenna because I use the spare tire on my Jeep; I figured because the antenna mount is lower I would have…

  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Quality

I've had this antenna for 3 years now and it's holding up great. I've had horrible SWR for a long time and somehow always blamed the antenna and at one point I wanted to write a negative review but talk user error! I didn't care since I had a Cobra 19 that I bought for $20 and I thought what happens to the high SWR if I only use it for a few off-road trips a year? Well I burned the first CB a few weeks ago and recently replaced it with a 25LTD Cobra. This time I really took the time to fix the…
