Review on MOTOR METER RACING Universal Tachometer For Gasoline 2&#34 by Doug Small

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A few hundred less but works

I installed this on my '67 Mustang. It works from the speedometer signal from the MSD box. The instructions aren't optimal, but I got it working after a few cable connections. I would have expected the wires marked Dash 12V to switch but apparently not. Your tuning controls are a kind of sensitivity, and the numbers aren't the number of cylinders. On my 6 cylinder it's set to 3 and max and it cuts out at around 230 rpm. I used my Bosch timing light as a calibrator. For $50 with the ability to customize, I expected it to be cool. Does not drop by 10%. Update: I've stalled it on the car so the RPM's rarely go above 3k. But when it does, the needle is pretty jumpy. It looks good, a bit too bright at night but not that uncomfortable.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
