The A19 screw lamp socket was once made of brass. They lasted forever. Today they are all made of aluminum. Screw shell, housing, contacts, everything. Aluminum oxidizes faster (corrosion), melts at a lower temperature, and is also a poor conductor of electricity (higher resistance), resulting in higher operating temperatures. waste of energy. And yet they paint them yellow and try to pass them off as polished brass. I can't even find brass sleeves to fix my vintage lamps. anyone help?
