Not the best quality and design

I recently got a good price 32 inch Sony TV which I bought to replace a very old 17 inch TV in my bedroom. Rather than wasting valuable dresser space, I chose to wall mount the TV with a bracket that allows it to tilt and swivel for the best viewing angle in bed. At the same time I got many new TiVo's for my main media room to replace one that is 5 years old and has limited features but still works fine. Since the TV had to be mounted on the wall, it made sense to put the old TiVo on a shelf next to it, again largely for the reason that it doesn't take up any dresser space, which most people also "don't find" "feel enough" in the bedroom. Buying the right mount for the TiVo proved to be a daunting task. Most fixtures were too large and unwieldy for such a small, lightweight component, and I didn't want the bedroom to start off like a TV studio look... I wanted the electronics to be as minimal as possible. When I stumbled upon this VideoSecu mount I was excited, but also a bit concerned by some of the critical comments. This mount is a prime example of "You get what you get." Pay". In theory, this is a unique design, a mount that can be used with various components of different sizes. Not only is it very minimalistic and lets the component float in the air, but also provides amazing airflow from all sides of each component. But don't overestimate your expectations. For this entry-level price, you get a small flat panel that mounts to the wall, a main unit that mounts to the panel with four tiny screws, a pouch with a couple of wall-mounting screws, and a cloth tie. They include nylon grommets for mounting the unit in concrete (but don't make the mistake of assuming they must be used for mounting in plaster or wallboard). Due to the weight distribution, the metal plate is screwed absolutely securely in the stand if it is not installed in concrete. The device with two adjustable arms is attached to the plate before you attach the plate to the wall, and then two plastic covers are placed on the mounting plate. The design of this mount is very simple, apart from the overly complicated gears that allow the two hands to move back and forth at the same time. So when you move with one hand, the other moves at the same time. Each arm is a rectangular metal tube with another rectangular metal tube that fits on the outside and extends in and out to accommodate components of different depths. ADVANTAGES Easy to assemble, it is almost completely hidden by a component supported by two levers. CONS1. The telescoping outer tube fits VERY loosely into the inner tube. If you pull the component towards you, there is a chance that it will simply fall off and fall to the ground. There are slots in each tube that look like the designer intended to put some kind of locking screw there but have lost interest. Although it looks a little odd, I used my own nut and bolt to hold the two pieces together. Quality of construction, well you get what you pay for. The entire suspension is very light. I wouldn't put anything over 10kg on it. The rail has a rubber bumper to keep the component in place, but I had dropped the rubber out of the groove and had to put it back in. And there are two pieces of rubber of different sizes on each lever, one of which is too long. much too long. There are small plastic plugs at the ends of the handles. Mine fell out, they don't fit very well.3. The two main issues are related... the mount is so cheaply made that the two arms are not flush with each other so one sits higher than the other. It is, and there is no way to fix it. So the ONLY way to use this mount without a list of components on one page is to intentionally attach a metal plate to the wall at the wrong angle. To do this, place a spirit level across the two arms and mark the mounting holes for the plate based on the height of the arms. To make matters worse, the mounting plate only has two small round screw holes; None have a slit for side adjustment. Note that if you (deliberately) mount the plate at an angle to compensate for uneven arms, the entire rear plate will look skewed. When you install a thin component and see the mounting plate, you may not like the look.4. The fabric strap used to attach the component is completely stupid. I got the impression that the designer lost interest when he saw the telescoping arms keep falling out and instead of finding a solution, he threw a "safety belt" in the box to keep the components from falling off. It looks cheap and terrible and is not a good solution. There aren't many mounts like this on the market and the few I've seen are more expensive and seem even less well made. So if you're looking for this type of mount, you'll have to make compromises. This mount is available in black (shown) or white. I bought both colors; one for my new bedroom TV setup and another to place my wireless router in my living room so I can mount it high for maximum signal distribution. For the price this is an average product that is functional if not great in design. If quality is less important than price, go for it.
