Review on Ibera Bike Rack Frame Mounted Adjustable by Javarie Malick

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Wouldn't recommend this product to anyone

Good: Looks good, that's all Bad: The screws/bolts supplied are not reliable at all I recently bought an Ibera rack in October 2017. When I first attached the rack, I lost one of those pointless orange plastic rings that cover the back of the rack. Not a big deal and I had no real functionality. They are simply removed from the bag with a brush. The third time I installed the rack, one of the bolts broke the thread (not sure if I said that correctly), so I replaced two of those with the bike's pre-installed bolts. A few weeks after this problem I lost the gasket and bolt securing my rear disc brake. The only cargo in the trunk during my 30-mile trip was an Ibera U-Lock trunk bag, a 20-ounce bottle of water, snack bars, a mini-pump, inner tubes, and a repair kit. The strut stayed in place after losing a quarter of its bolted-on support, but only because it weighed next to nothing. I have no idea where I lost the bolt and gasket while driving and it scratched/chipped most of the paint where it was attached. I haven't used the post since, now it's collecting dust until I felt the need to look for another spacer and some screws/bolts and maybe a flimsy nut to attach it to the disc brake side. 10/3/18 Edit: Bought washers and bolts/fasteners from Home Depot, picked a long buckle and fitted it to the spacer so it screws in on the other side but not near the disc brakes or chain, also inserted a thin nut. So far so good for a few months. However, they spent about $6 and a lot of time looking for parts at Home Depot (people steal them and leave empty bags and lose every bag too).

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Has issues
