I don't know why it has become so hard to get a good quality winged corkscrew but there it is. 90% of available screws start with the screw protruding 1/2 inch or more below the shoulder, meaning the screw goes all the way through the cork and into the wine. just the right length and position, and leverage is good. With the help of this tool, removing jams is not difficult at all. Well proportioned with a nice strong build that seems to last a while. One thing bothered me: there is a lot of play from side to side in the wings where they attach to the body. In view of the price and the heavy construction, there should really be more precision here. The slop makes this thing appear like a much cheaper model than it really is. Well I guess you can't have everything. A good, functional corkscrew that won't cork in wine and is built to last is one thing.
