Review on JBL Wireless Headphones Three Button Microphone by Jen Wilson

UPDATED: Good sound, not recommended for high intensity workouts

UPDATED 05/08/20: I received a message from support today and they have processed my replacement order. I've edited my review above to reflect my thoughts on the headphones themselves. The headphones sound good, but for those who sweat a lot from more intense workouts, there's a chance of water getting in. It didn't take a lot of sweat to short-circuit the right ear cup. I think they are suitable for everyday listening or for travel. —— I bought these headphones to wear during workouts and workouts. For the most part they worked well and I enjoyed them. But on April 30th I noticed a static/humming noise that was faint at first and then got more intense over time. Also, it severely drained the battery when starting. I suspected my sweat got into the earbuds, so it's probably water damage. But these are headphones made for working out. So unless they're designed for people who work up a sweat, the packaging and product image shouldn't show outdoor runners. While I agreed they might have water in them, I tried contacting JBL as per the owner's manual. This product was purchased on March 6th and the problem started on April 30th. I reported this through JBL's support site and received an automated response with information such as 1) proof of purchase, 2) address and phone number, and 3) serial number/VIN. I immediately attached photos to all of this and received another automated response that someone would get back to me within 24-48 hours. After 3 days I sent a follow up email saying I was willing to write a review on Revain if I didn't get a response from them. Back then, a customer service rep named Nick sent an email. However, instead of an email confirming my issue, it came in the form of a prepared email asking if I checked a list of things (essentially the equivalent of your IT rep saying, that you are the problem and try restarting your computer). Here is a list of things I should check: - Try the headphones on another device to check the sound. - Check the cable for cuts or breaks. - How long do you usually charge your headphones for? The recommended charging time is 2 hours to fully charge the battery. Try a different cable, adapter, or outlet and see if that changes. Make sure the charger is fully connected to the headphones and the power outlet. If that doesn't help, do a factory reset. Reset the Reflect Mini 2. With the headphones on, press and hold the Volume + and Volume - buttons for more than 5 seconds. The LED flashes in two colors and you have now performed a factory reset. I have carefully checked all the above points and given them adequate information. In essence, all of the above points have not changed and have not even changed the essence of the problem. After this has been posted I have not yet received any confirmation that they have received my email or what the next steps are. They are silent on the radio. This is really disappointing because I've always thought of JBLs as good quality, especially now that they're part of Harman. But the way it all happened, it looks like they are in no rush to help me and support their product. Losing $70 on these headphones sucks, but I'll live. But if that's the kind of service I can expect from a manufacturer, then they can rest assured that I'll switch to another brand like Sonos or Beats for subsequent audio purchases. last thought If you exercise intensely and tend to sweat, these earbuds don't protect well against water damage. I don't think it was the heavy water getting into the headphones from my ear, and it was quite a bit, and it was enough to essentially short out the speaker. Unless I open the product and remove the soda water from the speaker, it's essentially useless and just scrap metal for now. It's a shame because prior to this and the service I thought about writing a positive review but this whole product support experience just rubbed me in the wrong direction.
