Advantages: - Powerful. EXTREMELY bright! - Costs. It's much more affordable than the closest comparable device. I left it on for an hour and it got warm but not very hot. - Easy to install. It comes with brackets and simple instructions. It couldn't be simpler - easy to use. I mean flip the switch and it will do its job. Continuous. It's very well made, I've fallen 6ft many times and it still works great. Waterproof. I left it out in the rain the first night I had it (completely by accident) after that it worked perfectly. - Wire strength. Most of the bars I see are thick enough to handle the current and have thinner wires that will burn out. Cons: Not exactly a downside, but overall great. It's really not a scam, but you have to know what you're buying. If you haven't measured before, it's up to you. I can't think of anything else.
