My feet have always been a nightmare. Calluses are visible from space. Therefore (and encouraging a downward spiral) I have always tried to ignore them: they don't bother me and I don't bother them. But recently I've noticed that they're as dry and cracked as a California reservoir. So now I'm working on getting them to be able to wear open heels. It's December now, I'm in California, so I have four months. One of the things that drew me to this product was that it was advertised as 'strong'. I don't have a frame of reference, but it didn't seem very powerful to me. But since a) my calluses are thicker than Sarah Palin's, as I said, and b) I have no frame of reference for said "strength" and c) this is the only downside so far, I gave the product an a of four. Stars. Think of it as four and a half. A few points: 1 - With a rotating head, it really is a grinder. If you press hard, the grinder will stop, so there is no risk of accidental injury. 2 - Since it is a rechargeable tool, it needs to be charged before use. The instructions included say 10-12 hours.3 - You use this on dry, not wet feet. I did this over the tub so the "sawdust" was easy to clean up. 4 - To clean, you can use the included brush and brush dry or dip the head under water as it is waterproof. Haven't tried the water yet as I've only used it once and thought the drybrush did the job. First, I focused on the classics: external heel and big toe. No problem: the foot grinder handles these areas as expected. Then, since I have calluses on the balls of my feet near my toes, I tried to grind them down. The foot slider was small enough to get to the right places. Since these calluses were small, it also only took a few minutes. I devoted about 20 minutes to my feet and now they are much smoother and definitely shoe worthy. I think all those years of truce were unnecessary. I like it better than my callus shaver because it looks so much better than a straight razor. It takes a while but seems to be much more effective than my pumice stone. It is now part of my daily foot care routine. I hope that by April I'll have such great legs that I won't be able to walk down the street without being attacked by foot fetishists. I can not. Wait.
