Review on MÜHLE Grande R89 Double Edge Safety Razor: The Ultimate Barbershop-Quality Razor for a Close, Smooth Shave Every Day! by Michelle Jackson

I've been shaving for a long time in Germany and recently bought a Muhle R89. My regular razor is the Merkur 38c, which I also like very much. What I love: This grinder is a beautiful razor and great quality. The head is well fixed, nothing is dangling. The blade sits right in the head and everything is perfectly aligned. The knurled handle feels good in the hand and you have a good grip even when wet. It gave me a very smooth shave, no irritation, no cuts, no razor burn; even with a one-day derby blade. What I didn't like: To be honest, I really like the razor. And everything I didn't like was beside the point. Would have liked a little more weight, especially at the top. I find it a little light for the size. I also felt the shave was too soft, I had to do 3 passes and a thin touch up to get the smoothness I wanted. I'm wondering a little if the weight in the head might help. I also wish there was a little more grip or something like the Merkur 38c at the end. This helps a lot in keeping the razor wet. General Thoughts: A beautiful, well-made razor that delivers a close shave. I sincerely wish this was my first DE razor instead of the Merkur 34 (which I hated). This R89 will be in my daily shaving rotation with my Merkur 38c. This is the exact opposite of the Muhle R41 I just tested and I would highly recommend the R89 for both beginners and pros alike.
