Big handle is great. I have two razors, an open 102 and a closed 89, and I use one handle for both razors. I really like Muhle razors. I switched from the cartridge to the safety blade at the age of 53 and find my shave is closer and less irritated.

Good affordable soft safety razor. I have a Feather AS-D2 and I really like it and it's softer than the Muhle R89 (which I bought for a street razor). Both give almost the same shave, but the grinder is more aggressive, scratches the face more and isn't as well made of the tool (as one might expect given the price difference!). I saw this shaver in a mall and loved it. It's a little heavy, but that's the point. Compared to many other safety razors, it has a durable handle that allows you to use different handles for your own convenience. This razor gives me a close shave every day. Other safety razors didn't corrode and protect the blades as well as this Mahle did. I will have this for the rest of my life.

I shaved the R89 Grande for the first time tonight and I love it. Up until recently I was using an old Merkur 34c workhorse which I am very comfortable with and really enjoying. As far as I can tell the R89 is very similar to the 34c. The feel was very intuitive and balanced to me, it felt like I'd been using it for years. Very agile and easy to maneuver in the face (and head). It's not a particularly aggressive razor, again, I think it's quite comparable to a 34c. I can be a bit harsh at times

This is an attractive razor that gives a decent shave. The extra bulk and weight takes a little getting used to, but for me the weight helps make me feel light. My original order broke in transit but the seller promptly replaced it at no cost or hassle to me. I was initially concerned about the weight of this razor but after a few shaves I realized why the weight is an advantage. Very little pressure is required for a close shave. Maybe not for everyone and certainly not for a beginner.
