I shaved the R89 Grande for the first time tonight and I love it. Up until recently I was using an old Merkur 34c workhorse which I am very comfortable with and really enjoying. As far as I can tell the R89 is very similar to the 34c. The feel was very intuitive and balanced to me, it felt like I'd been using it for years. Very agile and easy to maneuver in the face (and head). It's not a particularly aggressive razor, again, I think it's quite comparable to a 34c. I can be a bit harsh at times and I find this razor quite gentle. I might also add that it gave me the best head shave I've gotten from a safety razor, something about it just works perfectly for me. If you're new to wet shaving or safety razors, the R89 Grande is as good a place to start as any. Or, if you're a 34c user like me and want to get a different razor, try this. Very happy with my purchase.
