Review on 📷 Sigma DP2 Quattro: Unleashing Creativity with a Compact Digital Camera by Mike Marks

After almost two years of using the Sigma DP2 Merrill (as well as the DP1 and DP3 Merrill) the DP2 Quattro is a welcome improvement in usability and image quality. Here's what I like about the DP2 Quattro compared to the DP2 Merrill:1. Longer battery life, 2-3 times more shots on a single charge. I rarely have to change the battery more than once a day.2. Much faster recording time. Less than 5 seconds when shooting in RAW+JPEG.3. Higher resolution display (no more jelly shakes).4. Improved control layout - dedicated top dial for exposure compensation and better button spacing.5. Improved Q menu that works with the new front command wheel.6. Improved build quality. The rubber grip and rough texture of the body offer better control compared to Merrill's slippery surface.7. Much better off-camera JPEG for quick proofing when shooting in RAW+JPEG8. Higher resolution images with improved sharpness and fine detail reproduction.9. Improved dynamic range. Less overexposure compared to Merrill.10. More natural 14-bit color. The blues in particular is more accurate.11. Unique handle design for improved stability and controllability.12. At least one full stop of ISO performance improvement.13. Improved white balance.14. Built-in level.15. Remote shutter option via USB.16. The new design makes it easier to access the memory card and battery compartment when using a tripod.17. 21:9.18 aspect ratio option. The dials are stiffer, the Merrill dial is more prone to random movement.19. A new lens hood design allows for easier access to filters (the downside is that it's larger). While not a camera for everyday use, it's still slow, with poor light sensitivity above ISO 800 and no third-party RAW support. The Quattro Photographer rewards you with stunning detail that no other camera in this price range can match.
