I have used this recorder for business for a number of years. I mostly record notes on it like a full size cassette because it has better sound quality than microcassettes and can play sound on my home stereo. For standard voice recording, the mic works well and the sound quality is decent, never had an issue with extra distortion. For the price - I'm quite happy with that aspect. The reason I lowered the rating was because the buttons on this recorder are cheaply made. The rewind button popped out after a year of use - I used it anyway because it was inconvenient to have to use a stylus to rewind - but I've always been a bit disappointed with the design of how they attach the buttons to the mechanism - especially since these buttons are needed quickly for players like this. I'm currently looking for a replacement for this player - but unfortunately the few I've seen in the radio shop have similar buttons. I hope I find something better on Revain. jake
