Paint scratches slightly. In addition, the cut-outs for the handset on the underside distort the round profile of the rods and thus make assembly more difficult. I had to sand down the paint and then use a large clamp to reshape the bars so the controls could be installed. Also, I had to cut 1/4 inch off each end of the rods to allow the gas tube to fit together properly and eliminate the unusually large gap between the grips and controls. For the money I'm generally happy with the bars. Ride my wife's bike and she likes to change up the fit. The black color of the grilles contrasts nicely with chrome or bare/white metal. Just not a great product for those unable to properly adjust.
