Review on πŸ–₯️ Dell 34" Curved Monitor with 3440X1440 Resolution, Anti-Glare Screen, Tilt Adjustment, and Flicker-Free Technology by Adrian Thomas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disappointed, multiple issues.

Go on, I'm not a gamer. I bought it to use for work from home and recording (Reaper). It should replace a pair of 27 inch Acer CB2 (IPS). The extra horizontal pixel size is great, as is the curve, which is really easy to get used to. The extra width makes displaying two windows side by side intuitive. and reduces the need to resize or scroll horizontally. I'm completely consumed by this size, resolution and curve. It took me about 5 minutes to realize there was no turning back - although this particular monitor is back, more on that in a moment. While I like the size and format, this monitor was initially a bit disappointing for my intended use. The VA panel is much more blurry and inconsistent off-axis, and it's quite noticeable next to the IPS panel. Please note: Knowing that this is the nature of panel technology and that curved IPS monitors are currently priced at a much higher price, I am not deducting any stars for this. I just think it's important to point this out to anyone considering replacing with an existing IPS 16 monitor :nine. If you're not using it with an SxS IPS monitor, it might not be that big of a deal to you. It is bright enough, contrast and sharpness are sufficient for office use. The first thing the star had to pay for was the VESA mount. If you want to mount it with a VESA mount, this becomes exceptionally difficult due to the depth of the mounting plate. It's recessed deeper than any monitor I've ever seen. It appears for purely aesthetic reasons to have incorporated the standard stand into the oddly deeply ribbed design of the back of the monitor. The mounts I have are made by Humanscale with a quick release plate that will not work with such a deep mount design. I had to attach the whole arm with the plate attached and then attach it to the rack/clamp assembly. Keep in mind that this is a big, heavy monitor, so it's quite difficult to make. If my monitor's arms didn't easily detach from the desk clamp, this would be a two person job. Another star lost due to menus and controls. Numerous buttons and a joystick on the right rear edge just sucks. While you can assign functions to individual buttons, I've never been able to press the right button for it to be useful at all. It's just a few buttons on the back of the monitor that I can't see. One or two buttons and a joystick might work, but more than three is crazy. I almost always hit the wrong button which causes him to switch to a different input than the one I wanted or one that didn't have a signal meaning you have to wait for him to register before you Correcting your mistake can be annoying. Also, the position of the controls on the edge means that if you have multiple monitors set up, you won't be able to reach the controls next to another monitor on that edge without rotating one of the monitors, and note that the included stand rotates Not. . Many LG monitors have a single joystick in the bottom center of the monitor, which is much more convenient for multi-monitor setups. -10 seconds. I've tried several quality certified cables and still encountered the issue - with both HP Elitebook and Lenovo T470 (both in docking stations). I also had issues with the display port: when I woke up from sleep, I had to turn my monitor off and on again and fiddle with the display properties in Windows 10 to get it working - EVERY time. Screen. I ended up sending it back and buying a pair of 35 inch LG 35WN65C-Bs which I am very happy with. These are also VA panels, but the colors look a little less muted and the display is a little more even. I really don't understand why monitor manufacturers think it's good product design to turn inputs upside down when they're completely invisible when the monitor is in the normal vertical orientation, and just put tiny embossed black labels on black labels you just can't do without light ones reading flashlight. The LG is at the very back, about halfway, where you can see the port's orientation and location (although the labels are still almost invisible). An external DC power supply also means a lighter monitor on the arm and easier, cleaner cable routing from the monitor to the back of the desk.
