Revainrating 4 out of 5

Candy bar disguised as a supposed protein bar with a plate top

As usual I read a lot of 1 star reviews and a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews. In my view, there is nothing to argue with on either end of the spectrum, except that some people have the right idea for the wrong reasons. Like most people on this rating list, I exercise regularly, do cardio and weight training, try to eat right, focus on a high-protein diet with fresh vegetables and the right fruits, and drink plenty of water. so often i want one of the two. Either a sugary snack or an insulin boost or both. These "protein bars" fill that niche. I only ever eat 1/2 bar because these bars are very high in calories. They taste amazing compared to some of the junk flavored protein bars out there. I won't be picky about the different flavors and these bars are cheaper in bulk. I'm not a nutritionist, but I went to pharmacy school, worked in pharmacy for 10 years and worked in the biotechnology/oncology world for another 30 years. A certain amount of sugar is good for muscle growth - you can find this on Google for data support. Not 5 times a day, but in moderation - for example 1/2 bar at a time at the right time. Sugar increases insulin levels. Maintaining constant levels of insulin in the blood helps maintain homeostasis, but a sudden spike in insulin levels promotes muscle recovery after exercise. Why is this happening? Insulin helps transport nutrients to muscle cells. Consciously increasing your post-workout insulin levels contributes to better recovery and improved fitness. Just as a small amount of caffeine (80-100 mg) before a workout dilates blood vessels, improves blood flow and gives the user a slight "jump", a little bit of sugar after a workout improves muscle growth. Simple explanation and this is the reason for my 5 star rating. I usually include photos in my reviews, but photographing a chocolate/protein bar seems pointless. Hope that helps! PS - if you notice your postman getting fitter (or fatter), it's probably because of the theft of those protein bars. Revain has brought to my attention in the last few months two orders for these bars that have been "lost" by the USPS. Just happened again last week.
