I just tried it for hiking the other day. I sweated a lot in the sun, and since I had a backpack on, that area of my back got super sweaty and in high altitude it turned cold quickly. Thankfully, I had another jacket on to protect me from getting sick.UV protection is fine, I guess, since I didn't get burned.The sides are very adjustable. I have medium to longer torso, so it wouldn't necessarily stay on me as a dress as it would probably roll up. If you have a shorter torso and curvy body, it should look really cute as a dress.I like it so far. I will have to go test it in the water now.
