Seriously. If you sew EVER, you need this pup! Even if you don't hand sew, the ability to age a seam as you rip it apart is worth its weight in gold! The only downside is that the thread that comes with the kit is fragile and will break in a few days. I just pocketed it with durable waxed material and that's it! If you've ever hand sewn and wished your stitches were better, they really are 100% better when a third hand holds the edge. Hand hemming, darning, etc. goes much better with a little extra help. You need something to screw the thing on and the fastener is pretty small. But you can attach it to any clip and it will be fine depending on the size of your chair, table, door etc. I even kept the thread of it on my toe and used it that way when traveling.
