Review on Dorman 628 040 Universal Seat Heater by Chris Budenski

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Neat, a bit small. Don't forget to turn them off.

I took it for my wife's car which doesn't have heated seats. Installed them on the outside of their cloth seats and then put some nice leather covers on top so I didn't have to fiddle with removing the seats or repainting them. They're a little small, I would have preferred a more rectangular shape, but I understand they're square so you can line them up where the power cords come out. Installing the wiring was easy, although they do need to upgrade the extra fuses they provide on the power side as nobody uses those old full sized fuses anymore. However, this is understandable as there are many different designs of fuses. I'm buying an extra 20A Micro 2 fuse to power 2 of them. The wiring is clean and well thought out. The end result, they are not as hot as I was hoping, certainly not as hot as the factory heaters in my car, but the heat is bearable and my wife is happy. The only thing that worries me is that they don't stay. goes out when the car is restarted. I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself correctly. If you plug them into a power source that turns off when the car turns off, and then they turn off after you turn the car off, there's no problem. However, if the button is not turned off, the next time the car is started, the heated seats will turn on. Unlike most cars, even if you leave the heated seats on when you turn the car off, they will turn off the next time you start the car. It's a minor annoyance, but if you don't mind, you could end up with heated seats the entire time the car is in use.
