Leak: Terrible Smell

Before the leak I would have given this lunch bag 2 stars. The pros are that it's nice and comfortable. Now for the cons: It doesn't work very well. I recently retired my 31 hot spring which stopped working after 4 years but used to keep food cold all day. This PackIt keeps my food cold for about 4 hours and most of the time I wouldn't even use the word "cold". The bag should really have an outside pocket for handkerchiefs and the like. My biggest problem with this bag is that the gel inside has leaked and I'm worried about the toxicity! One night after work I went to my car to get my bag and put it in the freezer the next day. When I opened the door, I was met with a horrible smell, like rotten milk or dirty socks. I quickly searched the car and under the seats for the culprit but found nothing. Then I brought the bag into the house. I started folding it up to put in the freezer and noticed an odd brown stain and moisture on the side. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that this was all at the bottom. It smelled awful so I figured that's where it came from. I washed the bag on the outside thinking I'd put it in some sort of puddle, let it dry and freeze it to use the next day. When I packed it up the next morning, I noticed that one side of the bag, where the freezing gel or liquid is normally trapped in the bag wall, was completely empty! The disgusting brown stuff smelling all over the bag and in my car was freezing liquid! I wouldn't buy any of these again. I'm too worried next time the substance will seep into the bag and get on my food. I'm sure the substance is poisonous. No thank you! It's been a week and I'm still trying to deodorize my car. I also examined the bag to see if I had made a hole or something and found no damage. :(
