I like to build a computer that lasts a long time. I prefer to use overclockable components and they fail even if I don't overclock the CPU. I wanted a motherboard that would allow me to use RAM at full speed. I also like the looks and how MSI handles Corsair's lighting to some extent. I wanted the MOSFETs to have good heatsinks and a motherboard that supports the Intel I7-10700K and is also future proof for the next generation CPU. Another requirement was to actually support an NVMe drive as the primary drive. Since this will probably be the last computer I'll build for myself, I wanted it to be fancy and durable. I chose an MSI graphics card, a Seisonic P/S, a Samsung NVMe, a Crucial SSD, Corsair Vengence RAM and a pair of Seagate Wolf drives with mirrored data, all in a Fractal Design Define7 case. I'm not planning any games, just photo editing and room for music. Maybe one day I'll let my daughter play with it. I think the audiophile caps and components were a big boost for this model, a step down from the MSI version.
