RT*M Electronics - Computers & Accessories

I'm writing this so I don't miss my original one star rating. (Revane looks through it. I hope it gets thrown away.) I like this mobo. It replaced MSI Platinum 4 years ago and it's great. I especially like its weight: the Platinum was the first motherboard I used for the project that felt really solid, not a 5 1/4 inch floppy. The Z490 ACE follows this tradition down to the smallest detail. Little did I know that SATA ports 2, 5, and 6 would not be available when using M.2 slots 1 and 2…

Pros
  • Pre-installed I/O shield for comfort and ESD protection
Cons
  • Upgradeable

A bit overkill for my needs, but I like it.

I like to build a computer that lasts a long time. I prefer to use overclockable components and they fail even if I don't overclock the CPU. I wanted a motherboard that would allow me to use RAM at full speed. I also like the looks and how MSI handles Corsair's lighting to some extent. I wanted the MOSFETs to have good heatsinks and a motherboard that supports the Intel I7-10700K and is also future proof for the next generation CPU. Another requirement was to actually support an NVMe drive as…

Pros
  • Supports 10th Gen Intel Core / Pentium Gold / Celeron processors for socket LGA 1200
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Nice but small design flaw

Looks great e.g. B. with an additional switch to turn LEDs on and off, and works great when overclocking. However, I have a small issue, a fairly specific one that I'm sure most others won't have. The USB 3.1 ports are on the right side of the board and I have an NZXT S340 case. Unfortunately, this arrangement makes it very difficult to connect the cable to my case, as I even had to tug on the metal cover a bit to give it enough room to do so. You can't even connect it before mounting the board

Pros
  • Supports dual-channel DDR4 memory up to 128GB (4800MHz)
Cons
  • Appearance
