I've always loved ASUS monitors and this one is no exception. It has a good picture and actually looks a little better than a couple of ASUS LCDs I bought a few years ago, although this one has a lower resolution. It appears to have deeper blacks and better shadow rendering. Not sure what the contrast ratio is, but it looks amazing! My only complaint has to do with the menu settings and some connection quirks. When activated, it automatically searches for ANY signal, no matter what input you've selected, and switches to ANY active signal when the one you're using goes to sleep. This can really annoy me since I'm a computer scientist and I often restart the machines I work on. If I use Computer A to troubleshoot problems I'm having with Computer B, then switch to Computer B's display, make changes, and reboot, it automatically switches back to Computer A, which still has an active connection. It doesn't really matter, other than the fact that they felt it was more important to put an auto setup button on this monitor than an input select. You have to press Menu, Arrow Down, Press Menu again, Arrow Down and Press Menu again to switch inputs. I literally never had to use the auto adjust button, and I really don't think it should be a button. Why isn't this function hidden in a submenu? Anyway, I'm having enough trouble docking the star. If only there was a way to change this automatic toggle feature in the menu system, that would be a lot better for me.
