They are definitely as soft as some reviews mention. In fact, they remind me of those old leggings that were so hard to come by - I can't remember what they were called. But they slide down so hard. I don't remember ever having this problem with workout clothes or leggings. They slip in the crotch area no matter how hard I pull them up all over. Otherwise they fit well so I know the problem isn't that I'm too big for them. It looks weird and uncomfortable when you walk inside. For this reason I would not wear them outside the house. But they are already washed so I can't return them. We're home due to the pandemic so I'm planning to just keep hiking for now. Another plus: cat hair doesn't really stick to them. Yes, but it's removable, unlike the pants I had where the hair kind of got tangled in the fibers and wasn't even washed properly. So I wouldn't buy them again but I think if you don't care about the crotch wandering then at least they are soft and don't cause any cat hair problems.
