Terrible sound quality

Got a CD player today and connected it to a bluetooth speaker. The sound quality was terrible. It was muted and had hiss. I played two other CDs to make sure the CD wasn't the problem and all three sounded the same. The problem wasn't me with my speaker as I use it all the time. Very disappointed.
