Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's only a matter of time before your plastic breaks down. This is a great replacement!

Picked up my new (me) Weekend Warrior 5th steering wheel from the dealer, everything was fine. I've always had a bumper, so I don't know much about 5s. I brought it to storage to drop off and it wouldn't raise the chassis anymore to lift the trailer off my truck, it just made a horrible grinding noise. Tried to lift manually by the handle, does not come out. When I started researching, I found that the chassis gearbox was split in two. I called the dealer, they said bring it in, we'll put a new one (plastic) in it. The dealer was about 30 km away. I hopped on the trusty Revain and found this beast for just $40. LESS than the original plastic scrap. Why in God's name didn't the manufacturer use that right away! The mind is incomprehensible. Anyway, I had to tow the trailer to a friend and park it by a truck that was too big for my area. I tried to fix this by using a bolt and nut to hold the gearbox in place and only made things worse (see picture). I received it within 2 days and installed it yesterday. It took about an hour. I had to sand the shaft to remove the old one as there were small burrs it was hanging on. 2 screws to remove the motor and 2 more screws and it was off. I also had to use a hammer to remove the old one. I was quoted at least $250 for labor and shipping plus the cost of the part to have the mobile guy come out and replace it. Glad I made it myself! Many Youtube videos show you how to do it yourself with very simple tools. The gearbox runs like a champ and I think it will last a lot longer than the plastic ones. Highly recommended!
