Love this light! It's very annoying that most modern sewing machines have such poor backlighting. This little gadget solves the problem perfectly. Good amount of light, dimmable, long power cord, fairly easy installation, looks good and is good value. BUT. Since there were absolutely no instructions/documentation, I had no idea if everything needed was there and how to install it. The strap was too long and I didn't know how to shorten it. YOU CAN cut the strip; Simply do this at one of the vertical marks printed on the strip, making sure that the strip is switched off when cutting. It is also recommended to clean the area where you want to stick the strip with rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry before sticking to get the best adhesion. The glue on the strip appears to be quite sticky. Let's see how he behaves over time. A tip: If your sewing machine has a seam down the middle of the body, DO NOT center the strip over the seam, as if your machine would ever need repair, the sewing machine won't appreciate removing the strip and you will do most likely to be done. You don't need to buy a new strip because the adhesive isn't strong enough to reapply. When determining the length of the strip, first dry attach it to the machine, before you cut it, and note that you may have to place it a little farther from the base than you thought as you need space. so that the power cord can be rotated 90 degrees at the bottom. (See image) Attach the strip to the machine first, then figure out where to attach the self-adhesive "cord holders" and not the other way around as this will save you a lot of trouble. I loosely attached the clips to the cord so they could be moved along the cord until I found the best position worked best. Once you understand this, remove the paper from the back of each clip and press the clip against the machine. , then insert the cable into the clip (pull the cable down or up into the round channel on each clip). "Adjusting" the cable basically makes it impossible to move what you want once you figure out the correct placement/spacing. As for routing and/or attaching the power cord, if your machine may have a carrying case you should ensure that the machine will still fit in the carrying case (or at least fit without moving the LED light/cable) after replacing the light have attached. I suppose you could also just leave the power cord slack and not attach it to the car, but I think this will put too much stress on the lightstrip and cause the adhesive on the back to come loose. Again, no instructions on how to control the light. Basically, tap the printed area of the control with your thumb/finger to turn it on. Applying constant pressure to the printed area on the controller will dim (or intensify) the light. To turn it off, simply touch the printed area of the control again. You can: b) buy a velcro strap for the cord that you can use to wrap the cord when you store the machine. The less stress you put on the LED strip to prevent it from peeling off, the better. You can simply loop the bundle of wires over the base under your car's neck before packing up and storing the car. IOW, right next to the place, where you probably already keep your sewing machine's power cord/pedal. Conclusion: Good value for money and a "must have" for most seamstresses who have bought a "modern" sewing machine that is known to come with individual lighting. But be aware that you will pretty much figure out the installation yourself as the manufacturer provides absolutely no information other than a couple of fairly vague photos posted here.
