Review on 🌈 Govee Smart LED Strip Lights 6.56ft RGBWW: WiFi, Alexa, Google Assistant, 16M Colors, Music Sync for Bedroom, Desk, Cabinet by Andrew Grant

First of all I am very happy with these lights. Needing a replacement for about 20 years of closet lighting, I started looking into LED strips in general and voice activated lights in particular. I also wanted special white lights. I didn't want to buy a bridge (like with Hue lights). Overall, the strips were easy to install and set up to work with Alexa. One band took a few attempts to connect to my phone via Bluetooth, which is the step required to eventually control them with an Echo/Revain device. A few (un)professional tips for you, based on more than a few mistakes I made together, by the way. The glue applied to the strips is very good, but you must be careful to ONLY peel off the backing. It's easy to accidentally grab both the backing and the adhesive and tear them off. Then you are in trouble. I managed to do it on a section and didn't have enough left over to replace it. Not wanting to screw tiny clips under my closet, I decided to order another full strip and connect the end of it. I put the rest somewhere else. It was a costly mistake. The insulation is so thick that trying to rotate the strip 90 degrees didn't work. Govee doesn't make extension cords so I bought from another company. When gluing the section you need to remove the insulation and very carefully cut only the smallest parts on the sides to fit the extension terminal. The LED strip should slide UNDER the pins on the extension clip, which for me could only happen if I took a thin blade and pressed down on the pins on the extension clip. Now that I've done this a few times (don't ask), it's easy, but it took me hours of frustration to get it working. The strips are done. They work exactly as expected and solved my lighting problem in a fun and modern way.
