Very beautiful and durable. The wood is very hard and heavy, like maple or hickory. I stood on a chair to check it and it didn't wobble or resist at all. I am over 250 pounds. At first I didn't like the fact that the screw heads were open for aesthetic reasons, but over time all the connections loosen. Open sockets make tightening easier. All heads are Philips so no need to fiddle with a hex/hex key. The wood has a dry feel and is durable so I expect the chairs will outlive my kids childhood. We'll save pennies and remake the table for a creative finish. The natural finish fits right in - a godsend.
