The connector is difficult to remove.

Just installed on a 2013 CX-9. It took about 30 minutes. For 15 of those minutes I was just trying to pull the plug. As a result, he pulled out the old block before shutting down. I used pliers to pry the connector out while pressing the latch. Put everything back together and it works great.
