I needed a TTL-232R-3V3 FTDI USB to unlock my router that was having upgrade issues. The router itself (Netgear Nighthawk R7000) has TX, RX, and Ground Service headers inside, but I didn't want to open up the router every time I needed to connect the header. (I like experimenting with open source firmware). My big plan was to plug the connector into the 3.5mm TRS jack on the back of the router and I've found that many devices like the Intel Galileo development boards already have a similar built-in interface, so FTDI -Cables like this already exist. I connected the plug and this cable helped. Windows 10 immediately set it up correctly and I was able to open a serial session in Putty to communicate with the router. Many other cables and modules I found had bulky USB ends or were just a circuit board with a USB connector sticking out on one side. This is a good compact cable. I know my situation may be unusual, but I am very happy with this cable and would highly recommend it if this is what you are looking for.
