PRO: I am happy with my TEK1.5 and now that it is configured correctly it works well for my needs. My golden retriever sometimes runs away when sniffing out an old bone or dead carcass, or chasing a deer or moose. It used to take an hour or two before he was able to contact him again. No longer. The TEK 1.5 tracks where my dog is in relation to my position and provides distance and compass heading. The device also indicates its speed and direction of movement, making it easy to find in the forest. Also, I found the person on the customer service hotline (see CONS below) very helpful and friendly and helped me resolve a technical issue. CONS: TEK 1.5 was difficult to set up. Although the owner's manual states that the collar and handpiece were originally paired, I have not found this to be the case. When pairing, I found the manual very confusing. It took me about an hour of trial and error to set it up. Sending messages on a portable device is also a bit confusing. For example, the message refers to pressing "button A” when the buttons aren't labeled as such and the manual doesn't tell you which button is button A. correct, although I have been using it for several weeks. I called customer service and got a very helpful and friendly person who spoke to me about solving the problem. If you're having trouble pairing your collar with a handheld device, I recommend calling technical support rather than trying to troubleshoot the issue yourself.
