Watched a group of hunters herd 8 puppies and 5 people and asked them how they do it. One of them introduced me to this product. I have a wolf-coydog hybrid that takes a 5+ mile walk through deep woods every day. Your pursuit has only just become possible. I'm glad it works up to 10km. Continuation. Bought a second device. I thought I would have trouble with this, but Virginia from PetMoods reminded me of the amazing customizability of the GPS. I managed to improve the performance of both…

Unstable Start

When I bought this device I knew there were no perfect tracking collars. This is still possibly the best of a bunch of not-so-great options. If it works, it's great. Like others, we often get inaccurate reports of where dogs are (many feet away when they're close to us). It is not possible to change the default value (shock the dog) when using the tracking option. I prefer to "tone" first, but for that you need to go into the learn function, after which you have the option to choose an effect…

Works as advertised but user manual is not very good

PRO: I am happy with my TEK1.5 and now that it is configured correctly it works well for my needs. My golden retriever sometimes runs away when sniffing out an old bone or dead carcass, or chasing a deer or moose. It used to take an hour or two before he was able to contact him again. No longer. The TEK 1.5 tracks where my dog is in relation to my position and provides distance and compass heading. The device also indicates its speed and direction of movement, making it easy to find in the…

Interruption and questionable quality

Bought to know where my dog is when he is following someone and to know if he is walking alongside the highway. The first unit worked very well for about 3 weeks until the handheld's antenna fell off due to a loose internal nut. I didn't want to take it apart and fix it and void the warranty so I sent it back and ordered another one. The new one worked 4 days and then found neither himself nor the dog. The shock function continued to work. Called tech support and they messed with him for an…

Not exactly. A lot of mistakes.

I spent over $600 on this so I expected it to work. When my dog is sitting next to me with a clear view of the sky, the remote shows my dog running up to 250 feet in all directions. I've set up a geofence - also with a clear view of the sky, but the corner markers aren't accurate. Lots of "Out of Geofence" errors when my dog and I are in the middle of a large geofence. The collar must be paired with the remote control after each charge. Batteries last less than a day. Often the GPS shows no…

Never lose a dog again!

I am very grateful for this device. I've been using it for about six months when I walk and train my German Hound. The only issues I really had were operating errors, like forgetting to plug it in and get a full charge before walking my dog. Last year I lost my dog hunting and it's been a pretty sad few months. I'm still not quite over it. I don't know what happened to her. I needed to buy a new dog and decided I would not lose another dog. I was researching what I could do to track down…

Technophobes need not worry!

I've had the device for five days and had enough time to test it. I bought it because I walk my dog very often, which in Oregon means walking in the woods. My dog won't run away, but no matter how many oranges I put on it, it's easy to lose sight of him and I don't want to call him unless it's necessary. I have to admit that after reading the negative reviews I approached my purchase with a bit of fear and disgust, but having had an amazing experience with my SportDOG 425 I took the plunge. My…
