When I first opened the box and turned on the light, I thought for a moment that they weren't working. Then I remembered that I had to close the solar panel (to simulate darkness) for them to turn on. They worked immediately without charging. I read some reviews that said the light is less than expected. These are "fairy lights" and should be small, making them magical and "flickering". I've also read complaints that they are confused. The lamps came neatly wrapped (see photo). If you're careful and don't rush to unwind them, you shouldn't have any problems. I bought these lamps to light up an outdoor fairy garden. The solar panels will be in the sun but the light will be in a dark place shaded by trees. I will add more photos and update this review after using it for a while. I am very happy with my purchase and will be ordering more!
