This is one of the worst devices in the collection! It started with water spurting out of the connection between the hose and the syringe. Excellent. I make the connection. It didn't help much (if at all). I unscrewed the atomizer completely and reinstalled the o-ring/washer, which initially seemed to help, only to get wet when I turned the lever to the "off" position (when all the water came out of that connection As a last random) the effort I used some silicone tape on the threads, only to find that it increases the atomization of the joint, whether the lever is on or off. Luckily, the T-connection (where the hose connects to the shower) works with the sprayer. I had one from another supplier that I bought years ago so that hose/sprayer is in the trash and I just carry the old hose/sprayer between baths when needed.
