Big horns don't come off easily, so I end up tossing a few into space

As this was my first attempt at beadwork, my clumsiness might be to blame. After scattering the beads everywhere, I bought two of them. They keep the beads on the carpet very well. However, the beads do not roll onto the needle like they would in a shallow bowl. Big glass beads are hard to let go and I end up throwing them into space. I turn the mat over to find the right angle to insert the needle into the beads because the beads don't move. The medium sized beads (beads) seemed to work well if I flexed the mat slightly when lifting. with a needle.
